Last year, Washington Water Trust and our community lost a special friend, Lorri Bodi. Lorri was a brilliant public servant, bold environmental leader, and dedicated member of our board of directors. It was a privilege to lead this organization with her, and WWT benefitted from her experience and vision.
To honor Lorri and continue her work of finding better conservation solutions through collaborative leadership, the Bodi / Eglick family and WWT have launched the Lorri Bodi Water Leadership Program.

The Lorri Bodi Water Leadership Program (LBWLP) will inspire and develop future water conservation leaders. WWT is partnering with institutions like the University of Washington to empower students to explore pressing local water challenges through capstone internships and consulting projects. Their findings will help decision makers and organizations like WWT restore rivers and build a sustainable freshwater future.

Lorri Bodi enjoys a hike in the 1980’s.
WWT is hosting a team of graduate students from the UW Evans School of Public Policy and Governance Consulting Lab to research ways that Washington water policy and law can be modernized to ensure rivers and streams have the water necessary for salmon and to honor Tribal resources, culture, and treaty rights.
WWT is also hosting an intern from the UW College of the Environment, who is evaluating the state’s implementation of the Streamflow Restoration Act for their capstone project.

Lorri and her daughter Anna Eglick Bodi
Anna Eglick Bodi, Lorri’s daughter, shared: “The goal is for each student in the Lorri Bodi Water Leadership Program to gain experience making a current contribution to streamflow preservation and local water conservation while preparing for future leadership roles in the field. The program will ensure that, through these bright students and WWT, Lorri’s environmental legacy will continue.”
Lorri sparkled in every role and had a strong voice on the WWT Board. We deeply miss her care and contributions, and we are proud to carry on her collaborative problem solving through the Lorri Bodi Water Leadership Program. Thank you to our partners and supporters for celebrating Lorri and helping new leaders find better solutions for local rivers and streams.
